Kings Of The Podcast: Ep. 106 with Alex Edler

August 9, 2021 By John Hoven

Fresh on the heels of signing his new contract with the LA Kings, defenseman Alex Edler joins us as a special guest on Kings Of The Podcast.

Among the items discussed:
— The emotions of leaving Vancouver
— Playing against the Kings in 2010 and 2012
— LA’s new Swedish Army
— Changing jersey numbers after 1,000 NHL games
— Drama surrounding the Canucks last season
— His nickname, love for music, and more

Also in this episode, we’ll use the first and third periods to do a little Numerology, break some news regarding a big Kings event being planned for later this month, review the laundry list of players changing jersey numbers this summer, and work in some funny stories along the way.

I don’t think Vilardi at 13 is a good look. I think 83 would look better IMO. I don’t recall any player wearing 83. As far as the most players to wear a number, I would guess 7.

FYI – we ended up talking about it on the next podcast. The most worn number in LA Kings history is actually a tie between 10 and 12.

That’s a new song by a band called The Last Gang (they’re now signed to Fat Wreck Chords). Song is called Noise Noise Noise.

Brenna Red is the lead singer of TLG and her previous band was called Fiction Reform. Highly recommend you pick up their two records.
