On Saturday, August 28 at Staples Center, the LA Kings will host a Play the Kids Party.
While that’s probably not what they’re officially calling it, we’ll go with that for now.
Basically, from what we’re hearing, they’re inviting about a dozen of their top prospects to participate in a Skills Competition. As we understand things, it will be a free event for Season Ticket Holders, mini-plan holders, etc.
Doors will open around 11am, with the event itself scheduled to start sometime around 1pm. We’ve heard that select fans will also be allowed to skate on the arena ice after the event ends.
Kings alumni and Development coaches — including Jaret Stoll, Matt Greene, and Sean O’Donnell – will be heavily involved in the event and act as co-hosts of the on-ice festivities.
There will most likely be a variety of additional activities scheduled throughout the day, with the Skills Competition being the marquee event.
We’re expecting the trio of Quinton Byfield, Alex Turcotte, and Arthur Kaliyev to headline the August 28 event. Other prospects likely to attend include: Tyler Madden, Sammy Fagemo, Aidan Dudas, Jordan Spence, Sean Durzi, and Brandt Clarke.
There is also a possibility Gabe Vilardi, Kale Clague, and/or Mikey Anderson may be involved.
We talked more about the event on an all new Kings Of The Podcast earlier today.
All of this will be happening just after the Kings wrap up their annual week-long Development Camp in El Segundo, featuring the majority of the team’s top young prospects. More on that event can be found at the link below.

Does this event on the 8-28 include Reign season ticket holders ?
Great question. I’d assume so. Will try to find out.
