Anze Kopitar – ‘Hopefully I’ll get a couple pretty soon too’

April 22, 2013 By John Hoven

Kopitar vs Stars - April 2013 MayorsManor
Following the Kings 4-3 overtime win over the visiting Dallas Stars, here’s what Anze Kopitar had to share…

– On the overall game: “It was good. It’d be (better) if it were our best game, but it wasn’t our best game. But, at the end of the day, we found a way to win, and we got the two points. You know we did it in OT, so I guess it doesn’t count as a shootout win too. Maybe that’ll help us in the end. But, if we keep going like that and building on the game; you know there’s some good stuff happening on the ice. Again, bottom line, we got the two points.”

– On how much scoreboard watching he’s doing: “I mean after the game we’ll check it out and see what happens. You know, with all the media, the Twitter world, and everything that is going on, you’re pretty updated. It’s by the minute. We realize and we know that we have to do our part, and you know, if we do our part we’re going to have a good chance at clinching home-ice too.”

– On if Brown getting going makes the team even more dangerous: “Yeah, I mean we need everybody going. So it’s nice to see him get a couple tonight and hopefully I’ll get a couple pretty soon too.”

– On if playing a desperate team like Dallas makes it more like a playoff game: “Yeah, I mean they’re fighting for that eighth spot, or seventh spot, or whatever it is. You know every game’s important for them and also for us. Because like I said before, we have a goal of clinching home ice, and we need a couple more wins for that. So we’re a desperate team for that, and it ramps up intensity a little bit.”

– On Dallas’ controversial second goal and how to overcome it: “I wasn’t on the ice for either of them. It is what it is. You look down the bench and couple of guys said ‘That’s not going to beat us tonight!’ There’s nothing you can really do. You definitely can’t feel sorry for yourself so you get on the ice and try to score another one. Tonight, we accomplished that.”
