Because the Kings were shutout in their last game we didn’t have a winner in Thursday night’s First Goal Contest. Fear not though, it’s a new day – and you have another chance to claim a prize.
More on that in a minute though. First, some required reading:

Now, on to the contest…
As noted earlier this week, Jeff Carter is in a bit of a drought at the moment. Known as a streaky scorer, the Kings’ leading goal producer has only found the back of the net one time in the last seven games. If that makes you a little bit nervous, you have 17 other skaters to select from – including Dustin Brown, Kyle Clifford, Anze Kopitar, Alec Martinez and Jake Muzzin.
So, how do you play?
STEP 1 – Click here to check out all the cool stuff Hockey Soda Energy has to offer because they’re putting together a prize pack for the winner. Their full line of Hockey Energy products are designed to improve protein metabolism, reduce fatigue and appetite, plus sharpen perception.
STEP 2 – Place a comment below with the LAST NAME of the LA Kings player you think will score first vs. the Canucks (one entry per person). We’ll pool all the correct entries and one person will be randomly selected to receive a free Hockey Soda Energy prize pack featuring a hockey puck and a 6-pack of Hockey Energy Soda (must be 16 years of age or older).
To get you started, here are the line combinations and D-pairings that coach Darryl Sutter is expected to use:
FORWARDS
Dustin Brown – Anze Kopitar – Justin Williams
Dustin Penner – Mike Richards – Jeff Carter
Dwight King – Jarret Stoll – Trevor Lewis
Kyle Clifford – Colin Fraser – Jordan Nolan *
DEFENSE
Jake Muzzin – Drew Doughty
Rob Scuderi – Slava Voynov
Alec Martinez – Keaton Ellerby
Healthy Scratches: Davis Drewiske, Brad Richardson and Tyler Toffoli. (* NOTE: There is a chance Toffoli will replace Nolan in the line-up. However, that won’t be known until closer to game time.)
Based upon who was first off the ice at Friday’s practice, Jonathan Quick will likely get the start in net.
And, according to Roberto Luongo, he doesn’t sound like the starter for Vancouver. So, expect Cory Schneider to be in the Canucks’ crease come game time.
Good luck in the contest!
