Brad Richardson punks Trevor Lewis – not once, but twice

November 14, 2012 By John Hoven

When six members of the LA Kings Stanley Cup team attended a USC football game back in September it turned out to be the gift that just keeps on giving.

Several of the guys shown in the above picture have come on the MayorsManor show to share some of their experiences from that day – including Jeff Carter, Dwight King and Alec Martinez.

Then, last week we heard from Jarret Stoll on the art of tucking – his attempt at explaining how he wasn’t committing a jersey foul (see right side of the photo).  We’ll let you read his quotes and decide if you agree with his claims.

Now, finally, comes an explanation on why Trevor Lewis went all Incredible Hulk with his Matt Barkley jersey…

“We all bought the jerseys and then Richie (Brad Richardson) was like ‘Let’s cut off the sleeves’ and I said ‘Yeah, whatever,'” Lewis told MayorsManor. “I did it first and then handed him the scissors and he was like, ‘Nah, I’m good.'”

And the story was pretty much confirmed by Richardson when we caught up with him a little later.

“I’m really good at talking people into things,” he began.

“So, when we went to get the jerseys, I said ‘Hey Trevor, we should cut the jerseys up and show ’em off.’ He was all for it,” Richardson tried to say while laughing.

“After he cut it up I looked at it and said, ‘Wow, that looks bad!’ Then I just said, ‘I’m good, thanks’ and I didn’t cut mine.  It became a running joke after that.”

Adding further insult to the situation, Richardson went on to revel even more – “He paid for the jerseys too, including paying for mine. So, I still owe him some money!”

There’s going to be a receipt coming for Richardson at some point in the future. Not from a cash register, but in the form of payback.  Lewis isn’t about to let Richardson get away with this for too long.

“I just looked like the only idiot out there that day,” Lewis said. “Richie got me.”

True. But for how long?
