MayorsManor Live Radio: Kings at Ducks preview with Josh Brewster

Over the last 20 years the Kings and Ducks have met on the ice more than 100 times. Still, some say the rivalry won’t kick into high gear until they square off in the playoffs – just don’t tell that to the fans who pack the arenas in both LA and Anaheim because the hatred is already very real.

For the most part though, the one element this rivalry has lacked most is having both teams playing meaningful hockey at the same time. More often than not, one team has been hot or on the rise, while the other was struggling. Tonight will be somewhat unique in that regard – even though the Kings came into the season as the defending Stanley Cup Champions, while the Ducks missed the playoffs last year – they’re close in the standings at the moment.

Coming into this season, most people saw the Ducks as a bubble team, at best – maybe they’d make the playoffs. Of course, the Kings were one of the favorites to win the Western Conference. However, through the first two weeks, Anaheim has been the better team. So, tonight should be interesting.

Joining us to preview the game is Josh Brewster, host of Duck Calls on AM 830 and editor-in-chief at HockeyTalk.biz.

We’ll cover the players who figure to be key contributors tonight, why people hate Corey Perry so much, is Ryan Getzlaf back to his old self, which players will be traded or leave via free agency, rookie Emerson Etem, Cam Fowler vs. Drew Doughty, the Bobby Ryan factor and we’ll take a lap around the league – specifically looking at the Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks.

Enjoy the show…
