After rattling off five straight victories, the Kings hit a speed bump over the weekend, falling to the Predators 2-1 in a shootout. They’ll have the opportunity to get back into win column on Tuesday night against the visiting New York Islanders. A few weeks back, LA picked up a 3-2 win on Long Island, so they’re now looking to sweep the season series.
Coach Todd McLellan has the same decisions to make heading into tonight as he did on Saturday — including how to best plug the temporary holes left by Kevin Fiala and Sean Durzi (both remain out and are listed as day-to-day). Up front, Trevor Moore is expected to again slot in at LW2. The fourth line has several different configuration possibilities. We’re expecting Arthur Kaliyev to draw back in with one of Zack MacEwen, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, and Carl Grundstrom to play at LW4.
On the blueline, we’re assuming Jordan Spence has a better than 50% shot at replacing Sean Walker. And, keeping with the recent goalie rotation, Joonas Korpisalo is most likely the starter.
For those who love thinking about ‘What if…’ scenarios. If then-GM Dean Lombardi hadn’t traded for Milan Lucic in June 2015, the Kings had their eyes set on Mathew Barzal at the Draft:
