For the second time this week, the Ontario Reign fell to the Calgary Wranglers, this time by a score of 4-1.
In the first period, Lias Andersson opened up the scoring, as he shot one off the right post and in. This was the Swede’s 20th of the season, and his 11th goal over his last 10. As time dwindled in the period Calgary struck on the power play, capitalizing after Ontario failed to clear the zone multiple times.
Part way through the middle frame, it seemed as if Tyler Madden had given the Reign the lead, however after a review it was ruled no goal. Moments later, the Wranglers took their first lead of the night thanks to a fortunate deflection off of a Reign player.
As the third period went along, Ontario began to generate multiple grade A opportunities. Ontario had a power play in the period where they managed some good chances, yet they were unable to deliver the game tying goal. Later in the period, once again Madden had the best look for the Reign. However the puck went off the crossbar and out. In the final minute of the game, Calgary added not one, but two empty net goals to seal it.
Despite playing well in net, Cal Petersen takes the loss, making 28 saves on 30 shots.
