Martin Chromiak’s first career multi point night paved the way to victory for Ontario over San Diego for the second consecutive night, this time 5-2.
The 20 year-old, Chromiak is starting to come into his own, as he has points in his last four games. On Saturday evening he added to that as he collected a goal and a pair of assists.
Nikita Pavlychev scored his first goal of the season in his third game with Ontario after he banked one in off of a Gulls defender and in the net. Just over a minute later, Lias Andersson wheeled around the opposing defense, while doing an effective job of protecting the puck, then went backhand forehand before wristing one in the top left corner. Even though the play in the first period was equal, Ontario executed on their opportunities.
Late in the middle period, Aidan Dudas squeaked one by the Gulls netminder after receiving a pass from Chromiak on a 2-on-1. Before the period came to a close, Dudas returned the favor as he supplied a perfect pass on a 2-on-1 to Chromiak, who one-timed it upstairs.
Samuel Fagemo extended Ontario’s lead to five with his 10th of the year as he wristed one home on a breakaway. However, San Diego wouldn’t go quietly, scoring a pair of goals before the final horn rang.
Cal Petersen earned his third straight victory on Saturday, turning aside 30 of 32 shots.
