Projected Lineups – LA Kings at Philadelphia Flyers; Looking for Revenge

January 24, 2023 By Scott Coffman 1 Comment

It’s funny how life works out sometimes. Coming off a disappointing home loss to the Flyers on New Year’s Eve, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick has probably been chomping at the bit to get that win back. However, when the team left SoCal last Friday, the schedule wasn’t lining up in his favor.

With three games in four nights ahead of them, and a back-to-back set kicking off that stretch, it appeared Quick was most likely on track to play in Chicago on Sunday, not in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Yet, it only took one minute of action on Saturday for plans to quickly change. Pheonix Copley was pulled, Quick played the rest of the way vs. the Predators; leaving Copley to tend goal vs. the Blackhawks.

And here we are, Quick is now available to face the Flyers.

One minor problem, though… It appears coach Todd McLellan has other ideas, and plans to go with Copley again tonight in Philadelphia.

What McLellan does with the rest of his lineup is also something to keep an eye on later today. Will he go with the same group that claimed victory in Chicago or will he put Alex Edler and/or Brendan Lemieux back in the lineup? Either is possible.

LA Kings Projected Lineup vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Byfield – Kopitar – Kempe
Iafallo – Danault – Arvidsson
Fiala – Lizotte – JAD
Lemieux / Kupari – Turcotte – Fagemo

Anderson – Doughty
Durzi – Roy
Bjornfot / Edler – Walker

Copley
Quick

Likely Scratches: Bjornfot, Lemieux, Vilardi (out day-to-day)

Injured Reserve: Grundstrom (Jan. 19), Moore (Jan. 6), Kaliyev (retro to Dec. 20, expected out several weeks)

Additional Game Info

Puck drop is set for 4:00 pm PST and will be televised by Bally Sports.

In the Flyers last game played, they fell to the Winnipeg Jets 5-3 on Sunday.

I was so hoping Todd would switch to more of a rotation, since COP has come back down to Earth I think that’s what JQ needs more, in general, more games, game situations, game speed, etc. Doesn’t appear Todd is even entertaining that option.

Philly and Penn are JQ’s old stomping grounds, younger playing days, not too far from home(CT).
Not knowing what’s ahead, just woulda been nice, I know it’s about the points. JQ can win here.

    Ahh well..just venting..and worried. lol
