Why would LAK have to put Copley on waivers?
Essentially, after players come off their initial 3-year entry level contract, they require waivers to be sent down. This prevents NHL clubs from stockpiling guys and not giving them a shot at the NHL. As a veteran player, Copley had to pass through waivers coming out of training camp back in October. No team claimed him, so the Kings were able to send him to Ontario. Once he was recalled, he can only stay on the NHL roster for a maximum of 30 days or 10 games. After that, he has to pass through waivers again.
We just hit 10 games, Copper is 9=1.
He will be claimed if he is sent down now.
Copper staying in LA and CAl had some additional losses.
Cal will be with the Reign.
