It’s time to begin our lap around the globe and check in on prospects playing in the CHL, the USHL, the NCAA, the various different European leagues, and the ECHL. The following reports are from games played through end of day Sunday, October 30th.
JUNIOR HOCKEY
CHL-OHL
Francesco Pinelli, Kitchener Rangers, Center (42nd overall in 2021)
2022-2023 Stats: 9 goals, 6 assists, even plus/minus, 11 PIM in 10 games played
Pinelli had an extremely productive week, scoring three goals and three assists across a trio of games. He is in a five-way tie for second in goal-scoring in the OHL and leads his team in points.

Kaleb Lawrence, Owen Sound Attack, Right Wing (215th overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 3 goals, 2 assists, plus-2, 11 PIM in 6 games played
Lawrence’s return from injury was much needed for the Attack, as the big man scored twice in a comeback victory over the Colts. His first would come from a tip-in, while his second would be a close-range one-timer fired into the far side of the net. The Attack would win all three games played this week.

CHL-QMJHL
Angus Booth, Shawinigan Cataractes, LH Defensemen (116th overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 0 goals, 1 assist, minus-2, 4 PIM in 12 games played
Shawinigan lost both of their games this week. Booth was a plus-1, had three SOG, and three hits.
USHL
Jack Sparkes, Lincoln Stars, RH Defenseman (180th overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 0 goals, 1 assist, plus-2, 16 PIM in 6 games played
Sparkes played in one game this week and picked up an assist. Lincoln lost both of their games this week.
COLLEGE HOCKEY (NCAA)
Kenny Connors, UMass., Center (103rd overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 3 goals, 6 assists, plus-3, 2 PIM in 7 games played
The Minutemen and Merrimack Univ. exchanged overtime victories in their weekend battle. Connors played a big role in the Minutemen’s win, setting up the OT winner. He would add another primary assist that game, giving the freshman the team lead in scoring. UMass did not move in the rankings, staying at No.5.

Jack Hughes, Northeastern Univ., Center (51st overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 3 assists, minus-2, 4 PIM in 8 games played
Northeastern would be pitted against the Univ. of Maine, ending their first game in an electrifying 2-2 tie before emerging with a 4-1 victory in the second game, where Hughes would earn an assist. He would finish the week a minus-2 and would win 50% of his faceoffs.
Alex Laferriere, Harvard Univ., Right Wing (83rd overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats: 2 goals, 2 assists, plus-2, 0 PIM in 2 games played
Laferriere put the Crimson on his back, scoring their first of the season to go along with the game-winner and two primary assists in a 5-2 win over Dartmouth. Harvard would follow with another victory, 4-2 over Princeton, where the right winger would have three SOG and finish a minus-1. Harvard would drop to the No.15 spot due to the performances of other teams in the NCAA.

Jared Wright, Denver Univ., Forward (169th overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 0 goals, 0 assists, minus-2, 0 PIM in 8 games played
The Pioneers spent their weekend in Ohio battering the Univ. of Miami, winning both games by a combined score of 8-2, putting Denver right below the No.1 spot in the NCAA rankings. Still looking to find the scoresheet, Wright finished with three SOG and a plus-1.
Braden Doyle, Northeastern Univ., LH Defenseman (157th overall in 2019)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-6, 2 PIM in 8 games played
Doyle would finish the week a plus-1 with one blocked shot. Northeastern dropped a spot in the NCAA rankings, now resting at No.16.
Ben Meehan, UMass-Lowell, LH Defenseman (140th overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-3, 4 PIM in 8 games played
The River Hawks and BU split their weekend bout, each winning by a score of 2-1. Friday night saw the sophomore pick up a primary assist. Darting around the offensive zone while on the powerplay, Meehan whipped a cross-ice pass to connect with a winger for the one-timer. The River Hawks would move up one spot in the rankings, now sitting at No.17.

EUROPEAN LEAGUES
Aatu Jämsen, Finland, Right Wing (190th overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats: 2 goals, 2 assists, plus-3, 2 PIM in 9 games played
Jamsen had two SOG, 16:00 in TOI, and an even plus/minus in a 3-2 OT loss to JYP to start the week. The Pelicans would end their week with a 2-1 win over TPS, where Jamsen saw his ice time decrease slightly to 14:51 while still putting up two SOG and retaining an even plus/minus.
Kasper Simontaival, LIIGA-KalPa, Center (66th overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats: 2 goals, 3 assists, plus-7, 0 PIM in 10 games played
Simontaival remains out with an injury. He is expected back in November.
Kirill Kirsanov, KHL-SKA St. Petersburg, LH Defenseman (84th overall in 2021)
2022-2023 Stats:
VHL-SKA NEVA: 1 goal, 9 assists, plus-8, 4 PIM in 16 games played
MHL-SKA 1946: 2 goals, 3 assists, plus-1, 0 PIM in 5 games played
Kirsanov saw an increase in minutes, averaging around 21:30 in TOI across two wins for SKA. The defender registered an assist and was a plus-4.

Otto Salin, LIIGA-HIFK, RH Defenseman (148th overall in 2022)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-6, 0 PIM in 17 games played
Salin and HIFK dropped their first two games of the week, 3-0 to KalPa and 5-2 to Ilves. In those games, Salin had six SOG, a primary assist, and 17:15 in TOI. His play would earn him a bump in ice time, skating 19:32 in a 3-2 OT win over HPK to close out the week.

Juho Markkanen, Eisbräen Berlin , Goalie (112th overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats:
DEL-Eisbräen: 5.03 GAA, .853 SV%, 0 wins in 2 games played
Champions HL-Eisbräen: 3.26 GAA, .890 SV%, 2 wins in 4 games played
Markkanen stood tall in a 5-2 win over the Steelers, turning away 26 of 28 shots to help the Ice Bears snap a four-game losing skid.
ECHL
David Hrenak, St. Cloud State, Goalie (144th overall in 2018)
2022-2023 Stats: 4.60 GAA, .842 SV% , 0 wins in 2 games played
Hrenak had a rough game in a 4-1 loss to the Stingrays, stopping 20 of 24 shots.
