Oh, the drama. Wednesday night features a game between two teams who have not been beaten in regulation thus far. San Jose holds a perfect 2-0 record in the preseason, including a 3-2 overtime win over LA on Sunday night. That was up north, though. Now they’ll have to face the Kings on their home turf… sort of.
Tonight’s inaugural Empire Classic will go down at Toyota Arena in Ontario, home of the AHL Ontario Reign.
Following morning skate at 10am, field reporter Terry DeSousa will update LA’s projected lineup below. For now, here’s an early morning look at how things might shake out.
NOTE: The projected lineup below is subject to change.
LA Kings Projected Lineup vs San Jose Sharks
Moore – Danault – Fagemo
Iafallo – Byfield – Kaliyev
Vilardi – Thompson – Grundstrom
Dudas – Helenius – Doty
Moverare – Doughty
Björnfot – Clarke
Bisson – Roy
Villalta
Ingham
Additional Notes
Management made one roster change prior to morning skate. Prospect Francesco Pinelli was assigned to his OHL club, the Kitchener Rangers. Their regular season begins this Friday
A significant number of additional roster cuts will come later this week, when guys are assigned to a separate training camp for the Ontario Reign. LA currently has 55 players in camp, a number that will be greatly thinned in the days ahead.
Durzi still rocking red today. Expectation is, he'll be trading it in for black in the days ahead.

Defenseman Sean Durzi skated with a black (full contact) jersey this morning. However, he isn’t expected to play in the Empire Classic.
Puck drop is set for 7pm PST on Wednesday. At this time, there doesn’t appear to be a televised broadcast or stream of this game.
After tonight, three of the Kings four remaining preseason games will be against the Ducks — beginning Sunday at home, followed by next Tuesday in Anaheim. Both games will be televised by Bally Sports, as will the latest incarnation of Frozen Fury in Salt Lake City on October 6.
