Pool play continues on at the 2022 World Junior Championships today with another four games and two bouts of Kings On Kings Crime. Here’s a quick preview:
WJC DAY 2 SCHEDULE
Five of LA’s prospects are in action on Day 2, with the night cap being the marquee game of the day. Martin Chromiak had a pair of goals for Slovakia in yesterday’s 3-2 loss, so they’ll be looking for their first win of this year’s event. Meanwhile, Sweden earned a big victory over Russia in their opening contest. Those are two of the teams projected to fight for first place in Pool B, along with the United States.
In Monday’s opening game, Kasper Simontaival will look to get on the scoresheet after being held pointless in Finland’s opener, despite getting a top line assignment. Teammate Samuel Helenius produced two goals and led the way for his team while playing third line center.
Finland v Austria (11am PST)
featuring Samuel Helenius and Kasper Simontaival
Switzerland v Russia (1:30pm PST)
featuring Kirill Kirsanov
Germany v Czechia (4pm PST)
Slovakia v Sweden (6:30pm PST)
featuring Martin Chromiak and Helge Grans
Group A is comprised of Canada, Finland, Germany, Czechia, and Austria. While Group B includes the United States, Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
Pool play will continue through New Year’s Eve. Then, the Quarterfinal games will take place on January 2, followed by the semifinals on January 4 and then the medal games on January 5. All games will air on NHL Network TV.
