It’s almost time for Round 3 of a four-game stretch between the Kings and Ducks. After splitting a pair of games at Staples Center earlier this week, Friday night will begin a back-to-back set in Anaheim.
Todd McLellan had previously confirmed rookie Quinton Byfield is scheduled to be in the lineup on Friday, and we expect Lias Andersson is in too. Meanwhile, Blake Lizotte is out with an injury and doesn’t look like he’ll be available this weekend, which will allow Jaret Anderson-Dolan to slide back in – either at 3C or 4C.
As was the case recently, predicting the actual makeup of LA’s third and fourth line is a challenge because it remains unknown if McLellan will use a traditional lineup of 12 forwards. He did go with an 11/7 configuration on Wednesday for the second straight game — after warning us not to assume he would go back to using a 12/6 lineup.
Well, we’re here to tempt fate once again. He’s going with 12 forwards tonight… we think. Maybe.
LA Kings projected lineup vs. Anaheim Ducks
Iafallo – Kopitar – Brown
Kempe – Byfield – Moore
Andersson – Vilardi – Athanasiou
Lemieux – JAD – Wagner

* MacDermind could slide in to replace Maatta or be used as a seventh defenseman

Blake Lizotte (injured, upper body)
The taxi squad is currently comprised of Troy Grosenick, Drake Rymsha, Cole Hults, and Tyler Madden.
NOTE: Once again, the Kings are scheduled to wear their ’90s Heritage Jerseys tonight (pictured above). This is one of three games where they’ll break out the Gretzky-era classics.
Should McLellan provide any key updates during his media availability later this morning, this article will be updated.
