Reign Shutout Americans, Take 3-1 Series Lead: Quick Quotes Alex Roach

Ontario Reign Allen Americans

Joe Cannata made 31 saves and David Rutherford had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 Ontario Reign win Saturday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.  Ontario now has a 3-1 series lead against the Allen Americans with a chance to end the series tomorrow night in Ontario.  After the game MayorsManor caught up with LA Kings prospect Alex Roach…

On only allowing one goal in the last three games:

Yeah, our goaltender is standing on his head, so that definitely helps out a lot.  We are trying to keep the chances to the outside, they have a lot of skill so we’re trying to clog up that middle and give our goalie the best chance at seeing the puck.

On the game getting very chippy in the 3rd period and if it will carry over into Game 5:

I’m not to sure, it’s obviously frustrating losing by a couple goals.  I think tomorrow they’re going come out hard and they’re going to try to win that game.  It’s a big game, we’re excited for it, it’s a challenge.  They’re going to be revved up to go, and so are we.

On how the Reign are limited ice to the Americans:

I think we’re just trying to play hard on their top end guys.  Coach has been preaching to finish our checks and not let anyone through us.  It’s definitely a challenge, they got a lot of skilled players who can make plays in tight.  We just got to stick to our game plan and just go from there.

Postgame comments from coach Jason Christe and video highlights from the game have been posted here.

The Reign look to book their first ever appearance in the Kelly Cup Final Sunday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
