Puck Probability: Predictions for Sharks at Kings, Dec. 27

December 27, 2014 By John Hoven

LA SJ 2015 outdoor gamePut simply, the Kings and Sharks do not like each other. The feelings were already mutual long before they met up in the playoffs last season. However, after Darryl Sutter’s squad handed Northern California’s hockey team yet another post-season disappointment – this time in the form of blowing a 3-0 series lead, even with home-ice advantage – their rivalry has been taken to a whole new level.

For hockey’s return from a short holiday break, we have not one, but two, special guests joining us to preview this game. We didn’t want to leave you wondering what might happen tonight, so we asked our own Andy Tonge (a Bay Area native we might add) to handle odds from the Kings side, while Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area returns to represent the Sharks side. Below are a handful of things each guy thinks might unfold once the puck drops…

Odds by Andy Tonge of MayorsManor:

1:1 – The Mayor refers to this game as a battle between “NoCal and SoCal.”

6:1 – Drew Doughty hip checks old friend Logan Couture into next season (because, you know, Couture called Doughty a poser).

14:1 – Marian Gaborik and Anze Kopitar combine for six points.

320:1 – Jonathan Quick gets a Jonathan Quick hat trick (shutout, fight, and loses his helmet)

1,000:1 – After one of them scores a goal, Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson reveal they now have matching tattoos.

Odds by Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area:

6:1 – Joe Pavelski scores a power play goal.

12:1 – Melker Karlsson scores and increases his goal-streak to two games.

15:1 – Michael Haley gets into a fight in his first NHL game in two years.

500:1 – One of the Sharks accidentally shows up for the game at Honda Center, where the Sharks played last Monday and return to on New Year’s Eve.

1,000,000:1 – Sharks and Kings boycott the game due to their ugly Stadium Series sweaters.
