Puck Probability: Odds for Blues at Kings, December 18

December 18, 2014 By John Hoven

STL TarasenkoNo, the Kings and Blues aren’t starting another seven-game playoff series, it only feels that way. Later tonight, they will close out their two-game home-and-home series with a matchup at Staples Center. Will the Kings come from ahead to lose again, like they did on Tuesday? That answer won’t be known for several more hours.

In the meantime, we’ve brought in St. Louis beat writer Norm Sanders to help us lay some odds on the game. Below are a handful of things each of us think just might take place in the rematch…

Odds by MayorsManor:

3:1 – Mike Richards will score short-handed

7:1 – Martin Brodeur, who is expected to start for the Blues, won’t play more than 40 minutes.

10:1 – Jonathan Quick has a shutout.

15:1 – Blues coach Ken Hitchcock says something not so nice about Darryl Sutter and/or one of the Kings defenseman in his post-game press conference.

450:1 – Jamie McBain scores a pair of goals.

750:1 – Vladimir Tarasenko scores another hat trick vs. LA

Odds by Norm Sanders:

2:1 – New Blues goalie Martin Brodeur joins pal Wayne Gretzky for VIP watch party of the special reunion release of Disney’s “The Mighty Ducks.”

3:1 – Blues coach Ken Hitchcock offers pregame analysis on his team’s better 200-foot game and buy-in.

7:1 – Will Ferrell secretly makes way into Blues dressing room and begins doing Chris Pronger impersonation.

50:1 – Vladimir Tarasenko summons the rewind button from Tuesday’s game and scores a second consecutive hat trick against Jonathan Quick and the Kings.

75:1 – Kings find rare footage of the Beverly Hillbillies’ Jethro Bodine wearing the old purple and gold Kings gear from a really old episode.
