Mayor’s Minutes on NHL Radio: Who Wins the Pacific and Why

September 29, 2014 By John Hoven

Kings Ducks Camp 2014Follow @mayorNHL

Enjoy the free replay of this week’s Mayor’s Minutes from NHL Network Radio with Boomer Gordon – where they looked ahead to the 2014-15 Western Conference. Among the topics discussed were the Kings’ opening night roster (i.e. which bottom-6 players are likely to make the final cut), along with thoughts on the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues, and several others. Which team will win the Pacific, and why? There’s a prediction. Plus, Alex Pietrangelo vs. Drew Doughty, who is better? And there’s even some brief UFC 178 talk, as well. Give it a listen…

UFA’s not going to be here next year? Why don’t you think they will stay with the Kings? There is plenty of CAP room.

Plenty of cap room? With raises for the RFA’s I don’t see all the UFAs making the cut.

There will be 20-22 million in CAP room next season with the Rodgers TV deal kicking into league revenues. Right now we stand at approximately 16.6 million in CAP space for next season according to CAP geek. CAP will most likely rise another 4-6 million next season, hence, 20-22 million in CAP space. So yeah, there is money and plenty of CAP. The only issue might be if we want to bring Regehr back, in addition to every one else.
