Tanner Pearson on Hawerchuk, Carter, and Toffoli

April 28, 2014 By MayorsManor Staff

Morning skate quotes from Kings forward Tanner Pearson in advance of Game 6…

What effect did your junior coach Dale Hawerchuk have on your career?

“I really like Dale as coach. He’s good for young kids. He was a really skilled player and there is a reason he is in the Hall of Fame. Kind of watching him play 3 on 3 after practice you can lean so much from him.”

One thing you have taken from him skill wise that you use to this day?

“I wouldn’t call it advice. I just remember after a practice he pulled me aside and told me to get the puck and shoot with your eyes closed. He had a knack to know where there net was and I think it really helped.”

When Darryl decided to make the move in Game 4 by putting you and Tyler Toffoli with Jeff Carter, fair to say you had earned his trust to play significant minutes?

“We played with each other in the regular season and I thought we did quite well and then playing us on a regular shift, it’s comforting to have that trust factor and it is something that I understand that we had to earn.”

Is there such a thing as team being in the driver’s seat?

“I don’t think so. You just have to take it came by game.”
