Logan Couture – Kings v Sharks pre-game thoughts

Pre-game thoughts from Logan Couture following the Sharks morning skate in LA on Wednesday…

On the difficulty of playing at Staples Center:

“They play hard in their building. They come out fast, they come out hard. The fans are loud, they’re into it. It’s a tough environment to come into. But hopefully we can change it this year. It was last year that we struggled, but it’s a new season.”

On the different atmosphere this season:

“I’d say we are having a lot of fun in here. I think a lot of that has to do with the youth we have on our team now. A couple of young guys come in and excite the old guys a little bit. Just their excitement to be in new cities, new buildings, and playing against new teams. It helps out the other guys who have played a lot of games to see that type of excitement. It excites them as well.”

On east coat teams having difficulty playing California teams:

“Yeah, it’s a tough division, the Pacific Division. I think it’s been the best division for a lot of years in the NHL, and we try to make it hard on other teams to play against us. I think all the California teams basically play the same style- fast, big bodies, but we skate and make it tough on teams and try to play in the other teams ends. If we’re making it tough on other teams to play against us, then we’re doing something right.”

On their recent loss to the Boston Bruins:

“They’re a good team. I thought we should have beat them, we played better than they did. Their goaltender played very well, ours did as well, but they scored a goal with .8 seconds left. It’s tough, but it was good for us to respond with a couple more wins after that.”
