Following the Kings’ morning skate at Staples Center, here’s what defenseman Matt Greene had to say heading into Game 4 vs. the Chicago Blackhawks…
On how Jake Muzzin has improved this season:
“I think he’s found a way. You have to find a way to stick around, stay in the lineup. I think he did that with his offense early on, he scored some huge goals for us, and did a great job on the power play. He still has, he still is doing a great job of moving pucks and being a real confident player playing with the puck. I think that’s what set him apart this year and got him a spot, got him a spot in the lineup. I think he’s been doing a great job and continue doing it.”
On how important confidence is to a young player:
“Its huge, it’s huge. You want to get on a roll, when things are going well it’s great. You want to make sure you maintain that and I think he’s done a good job of that all year.”
On if he’s helped Muzzin work on ‘being mean’:
“I think he’s got it. It’s about finding it…it’s a different league. You have to pick and choose your spots a little bit more than you can before you make a mistake. The guys up here are a little bit better and a little more skilled so they’re going to make you pay for it. I think he’s done a great job of developing a physical side of his game, too, as well as the offense. I think the offense came first, but he’s a big guy, he’s a big body and I think he’s going to grow into that as well.”
On if it’s tough to watch Jeff Carter talk with his mouth cut up:
“Yeah, you never want to see a guy take that much abuse around the mouth, there. Especially the last few games. But he’ll get through it, he can mumble his way through an interview.”
On Bruins’ Gregory Campbell’s play last night:
“Yeah, I saw a highlight of it. It’s pretty cool, pretty special, it’s a lot of heart out of him.”
On if he has ever been in a situation like Campbell’s:
“No, I try to stay away from those situations at all cost.”
