What will Sutter say? Comments after 2-1 win over Ducks

April 13, 2013 By John Hoven

Here’s what Kings coach Darryl Sutter had to share following his team’s 2-1 win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night…

– On the overall game:  “First period we had lots (of opportunities), we just missed the net quite honestly.  We had a really good first period and they got some momentum back in the second with a short-handed goal, and then it was a track meet in the third.”

– On Mike Richards:  “Well, I think he has gotten stronger for sure.  And as is typical with Mike, that is the bigger it gets, the better he plays.  I think it’s on record that he had a tough start and he’s certainly played well lately.  We need those centermen to complement each other, that was one of the real strengths of our team last year.”

– On Trevor Lewis: “Well, Trevor doesn’t have too many bad ones, with very little credit.   Him and Jarret had the first penalty kill, play against everybody’s top lines, play serious minutes, and we try to reward them by giving them some power play time.  He just goes about his business and you know what, good on him, he’s a good player.  He’s a guy who came here and nobody was too sure on him and I said ‘Woah, this kid’s a good player’ right away. It’s just a confidence thing and it shows every night.”

– On the game recap:  “I liked our team. We just finished seven of 11 on the road, and the White House, and managed to still win our home games while we were doing it.  Without having one day off anywhere there, with all that travelling, I think all of our guys did a good job.”

Alec is the 7th best defenseman on the team, and they only dress 6. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Thanks! Worried he is in the doghouse forever! But with the rise of Muzzin’s play I understand his situation and how deep our d core has become! Good and Bad for us watching since we all wish all our faves are playing! Imagine when Greener cones back!

I wonder if Muzzin will take a seat and the Marty/Greener pairing will return… Ellerby is likely going to take a seat with Greene’s return, which makes me a little sad cuz I like him lol.

Muzzin’s been playing too well to take a seat. Ellerby and Martinez are definitely the odd men out.
