Kyle Clifford helped lead the way for the Kings on Saturday night, scoring two goals – his first multi-goal game in the NHL. He also showed a lot of moxie by taking on the much bigger Douglas Murray in the game’s only fight (video above). After LA polished off the Sharks 5-2, here’s what Clifford had to say back in the locker room…
– On the multi-goal win: “We wanted to bounce back from the other night and we came out with a strong first period and got it going there.”
– On the defensive tone: “We definitely wanted to tighten up, especially playing them two nights ago. We knew what our game plan was and defensive zone play was up there.”
– On bouncing back from two road losses: “I think we kind of have that New England Patriot mindset where we don’t want to lose two in a row. Coming off a two game loss—that’s big for us, so we definitely wanted to come back there.”
– On what the difference was tonight: “Our start. I think the first period we came out and we had a big start and we kind of put them on their heels a little bit and we just took it to them.”
