Drew Doughty on if he’ll ever score

March 16, 2013 By John Hoven

Comments from Drew Doughty after the Kings 5-2 win over the visiting San Jose Sharks…

– On the overall game: “I thought we played good in the first, really good in the first, and after that we weren’t as good. But, you know, we came out with the win. We scored a lot of goals, and minimized them to like two, and really that last one at the end is…You know it’s kind of a 5-1 game. We’re not happy we let that one in on the penalty kill. The penalty kill needs to be a staple of our game like it has been in the past. Not happy about that last one, but I thought Bernie played unbelievable for us in net. That was a big reason we won tonight too.”

– On being happy about his plus-2 performance: “Yeah, I think I’ve been playing really well since we got back from that long road trip. Back in early February or whenever it was. I think I’ve been playing really well. Not getting the points and stuff, but guys are scoring in other ways. So you know, if we can go a whole season without me scoring a goal and we’re high up there in the standings; I’ll take that.”

– On if he’s going to run through the whole season without scoring: “No, we’re not going to, but I’m playing really well defensively I think. I’m still creating chances, they’re just not going in for me. As long as I’m getting my chances and playing well defensively, I think that’s really what matters.”

Thank you for doing this interview. It seems FSW only shows interviews w/ rookies during postgame. We like to hear from our stars.
