For those just coming out of their hockey hibernation, as news of the NHL lockout ending spreads this morning, here’s a brief recap of what you’ve missed regarding LA Kings defenseman Alec Martinez

10/5/2012 – Martinez signs with TPS Turku in Finland (his initial thoughts)

11/1/2012 – Martinez plays in his 10th game with TPS and scores his first goal (video and post-game quotes)

11/13/2012 – Martinez is hit by a puck and suffers major damage to his face (video)

12/14/2012 – Martinez returns to the US and appears on the MayorsManor show to talk about his surgery and recovery

12/31/2012 – Martinez signs with the CHL’s Allen Americans and makes his debut on New Year’s Day (video)

1/4/2013 – Martinez talks about his first game back after the injury and when he’ll be ready for NHL action again

1/5/2013 – Martinez records an assist (his first CHL point) and then later scores his first goal.  He’s now packing for his return to LA. Here are the video highlights from last night though, enjoy…

One final note…

Martinez checked in this morning and had the following to say about the lockout ending:

“I’m very excited to resume NHL action and begin our title defense in LA. I’d also like to extend a big thank you to all the fans who stuck with us throughout this entire process and hope they are as excited as we are to get back on the ice!”
