LA Kings forward Kyle Clifford is on the ice right now for his first game with the Ontario Reign (pictured above).
As reported Tuesday, the 21-year old became the second NHL player to sign on with Reign during the NHL lockout. Devin Setoguchi of the Minnesota Wild inked a deal with the team a few weeks ago. However, he’s inactive for tonight’s game vs the expansion San Francisco Bulls.
Overall, the Reign are playing some of their best hockey in franchise history. The defending Pacific Division Champions have won seven games in a row, tying a club record. Tonight, they’re facing a Bulls team they beat by a combined score of 15-1 in their last two match-ups.
Kings goaltending prospect JF Berube is in net. He’s 5-1 on the season and this is his third straight start vs. the Bulls.
Clifford is wearing jersey #32 for the Reign, after first requesting #33. We have tons of notes and quotes from an exclusive interview with Clifford following his second practice with the team on Wednesday, see the link below.
[UPDATE: Ontario lost 5-1. Clifford was a minus-2 and finished with one shot on goal. The Reign play again tomorrow night in Bakersfield.]
