Earlier today, I was on the All the Kings Men podcast, for my usual ‘Mayor’s Mondays’ spot. We talked about the week that was for the LA Kings – including games vs. San Jose, St. Louis and Boston. We also touched on Jonathan Quick’s shutout record, recapped how some of the Kings top prospects have been doing lately, if shootouts are still a good idea, this week’s road trip to Canada – and, of course, we nominated players for ‘King of the Week.’ After some brief discussion, we landed on the following candidates as the three most worthy…
– Anze Kopitar: one goal, two assists, eight hits (including five vs. Blues), 10 shots on goal
– Mike Richards: one goal, two assists, shootout goal vs. Blues
– Jonathan Quick: 2-1 record, one shutout/shootout, .939 save percentage, 1.63 goals against average
Before voting, you can listen to the full podcast using the audio player below. This week’s edition also includes an interview with Daryl Evans.
The poll closes Wednesday at 8pm PST.

This team would be competeing for the top draft pick rather than the top spot in the Pacific if it wasn’t for Quick!
Quicke gets it for his performance v. StL alone. He could’ve given up 15 goals in the other games and it wouldn’t matter to me. He was brilliant.
Although, I have to give a special tip o’ the hat to the reemergence of Anze “shoot first” Kopitar. That wrister is nazzzzty!
