We posted coach Darryl Sutter’s post-game quotes in a previous post. Now, let’s head inside the Kings locker room and see what some of the players had to say:
First up, goalie Jonathan Bernier – who recieved a rare start and stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced…
Bernier on the overall game – “We didn’t quit and that’s the biggest thing. When you’re going to the playoffs you have to find a way to bury teams and that’s what we did tonight.”
Bernier on keeping up the pace though the entire game – “We kept pushing even after the fourth goal; we kept going and obviously they got that second goal but all night we played very intense and that’s why we got the two points.”
Bernier on adjusting from not playing for a while – “It’s not easy obviously, but that’s my job and I have to do it right.”
Bernier on goal scoring – “Any goal from any line is huge; we’ve really come a long way. I think we had a stretch where we couldn’t find the net, but right now everyone is in the same direction and we just have to keep going.”
Forward Trevor Lewis finished the night with two assists and was a plus-2. He also had this to say…
Lewis on the overall game – “We’ve been playing really well; it’s playoff hockey for us already so we just have to keep it going here.”
Lewis on playing with Penner – “We’ve been playing together for a little while now and we’ve been talking a lot about the plays we can make and using our speed and it working out for us out there tonight.”
Lewis on Penner’s goal – “I think we all three almost passed out in the corner there, screaming so loud. It was a lot of fun; we just have to keep going.”
Lewis on his line assisting on a few of the goals – “I think we’ve been doing a pretty good job defensively, our line. It’s always nice when we can chip in [on assisting with goals].”
Lewis on keeping pace with other teams in the Western Conference – “Like I said before, it’s playoff hockey for us. We have to just keep winning and that will determine our fate.”
