As the NHL’s regular season continues to draw closer, an official announcement regarding the league’s 2026-27 jersey initiative — called Hometown Remix and commonly referred to as HTR — still appears more than a month away. According to multiple sources, the NHL plans to announce the program in early November. However, we still have a few interesting details to pass along in the meantime.
To catch anybody up who wasn’t following along over the summer, HTR is similar to Reverse Retro in that it’s a one-off idea designed around remixing each team’s colors, brand, and styling. Again, this is being done by the NHL, not something individual teams are designing.
After sharing multiple mockups in an article here, taking readers through potential design ideas, this final mockup is said to be the direction of what will eventually be revealed for LA’s jersey:

From what we’ve been able to gather, the Kings have had some internal discussions about wearing this new HTR jersey primarily on Wednesday night home games — similar to how their current crown jersey is used as a Saturday Special.
If the idea holds, and it’s ready by November 4, that would leave a schedule of seven games:
Wed. Nov. 4 vs. San Jose
Wed. Dec. 9 vs. San Jose
Wed. Dec. 30 vs. Toronto
Wed. Jan. 6 vs. Washington
Wed. Jan. 13 vs. St. Louis
Wed. Mar. 3 vs. Tampa Bay
Wed. Mar. 31 vs. Winnipeg
There are also a few interesting tidbits among that group. For example, the first two games are due to be broadcast on TNT. Thus, the new jerseys will be shown in nationally televised games. Then, the next two on that list are considered marquee games, in the sense that they’ll feature the Maple Leafs (and Jim Hiller’s return to SoCal) along with Alex Ovechkin’s presumed last appearance at a Kings home game.
Which brings us to the one Wednesday game not listed above: Feb. 24 vs. Montreal.
That happens to be Anze Kopitar’s jersey-retirement night, and Mayor’s Manor has confirmed the Kings don’t plan on wearing their new HTR sweater that night. What do they have planned, if anything? Mum’s the word for now.
But could it be something special? Perhaps they could wear the jersey he debuted in as part of the ceremony?
Or they could wear the jersey he won two Stanley Cups in. There are more than a handful of options. Could they have something unique planned along with the statue unveiling?
