Kings Forward Corey Perry Throws Out First Pitch at Dodger Stadium

September 9, 2025 By Noah Sher

In the latest chapter of their long and mutual partnership, the Dodgers and Kings once again hooked up on Monday night. For more than a decade now, each team has hosted the other at their home facility for various themed nights or celebrations — events that often led to rather memorable moments.

There was the time Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda snubbed Jack Johnson.

Who can forget Kings defenseman Matt Greene donning a full Dodgers uniform (and eye black) to stay in the dugout as an actual MLB game was being played on the field?

And now, adding to the list, Corey Perry took to the mound at Dodger Stadium for Monday’s first pitch prior to Dave Roberts ballclub facing the Colorado Rockies.

Back on July 1, Perry was signed to a one-year contract by new GM Ken Holland. Since then, the move has been hotly debated among Kings fans all summer. Over the course of his career, the 6-foot-3 forward has played in nearly 1,400 NHL regular season games and produced 935 points (including 448 goals), along with almost 1.500 penalty minutes. Despite his 141 points (64G, 77A) in an additional 237 postseason games, that hasn’t been enough to help some LA fans overcome Perry’s former status as Enemy No. 1 during his days playing with the Anaheim Ducks.

Even celebrity fans are divided on the issue.

Singer John Ondrasik took to twitter to share his thoughts last night:

Conversely, actor Isaiah Mustafa has admitted to already buying a Perry Kings jersey to wear to games this coming season.

Meanwhile, Mayor’s Manor editor John Hoven weighed in with a few additional thoughts on the subject:

Here's an interesting take that some people will certainly have an opinion about…

Geoff Courtnall actually hurt the Kings more than Corey Perry ever did.

For those trying to catch up, Sean O'Donnell will help catch you up https://t.co/AqOOeFi5bt

Building on that last tweet…

Craig Muni actually hurt the Kings more than Corey Perry has.

Muni is the former Oilers thug who broke Tomas Sandstrom's leg in Round 2 of the 1991 playoffs. I'd easily argue that Smythe Division winning Kings team was the best of Gretz's LA era.

For those interested, the Dodgers won the game, essentially making them 1-0 in the Perry Era.

And the debate rages on.
