Ontario Reign Lineup vs. Colorado Eagles; Plus Updates on Fagemo and JAD

November 12, 2023 By Scott Coffman

Coaches and players will often direct questions about individual performances toward comments about ‘team’ and the group as a whole. In that vein, today is all about the visiting team, not about who is or is not playing for the Ontario Reign.

Across the ice on Sunday afternoon at Toyota Arena will be the visiting Colorado Eagles — a team that has probably cost GM Rich Seeley and coach Marco Sturm to lose quite a bit of sleep. The Eagles have not only knocked the Reign out of the Calder Cup playoffs three years running (including a sweep in the first round last season), they also took both games against Ontario last weekend in Colorado by identical scores of 5-3.

Kings prospect Alex Turcotte had a goal in one of those games and three assists in the other. On the season, he’s at nearly a point-per-game pace, posting 10 points in 11 games.

Fellow LA prospect Brandt Clarke had an assist in his first visit to Colorado last weekend. Then, in the two games played by Ontario after, he picked up his third goal of 2023-24, along with an additional assist. That gave the 20-year-old blueliner a total of nine points in 11 AHL games, tops among all Reign defensemen.

KINGS ROSTER NEWS

Look for JAD to be recalled from AHL Ontario for tonight's game. He will then play for the Reign again tomorrow.

— The Mayor | Team MM (@mayorNHL) November 11, 2023

After serving as a healthy scratch in LA last night, look for Jaret Anderson-Dolan to play for the Reign again on Sunday afternoon. He suited up on Friday night vs. Tucson, playing on the top line with T.J. Tynan and Tyler Madden. Sturm may be tweaking the lines a bit today, so we’re not quite sure where JAD will slot in vs. the Eagles. During his one previous game with Ontario last month, he played at LW3, so nearly anything is possible. We’re assuming a tinkering with the second and third lines as most likely, which is what’s reflected below.

Alex Laferriere was also assign to Ontario earlier today. However, that’s more of a paper transaction designed as a salary cap related move. He isn’t expected to play this afternoon.

BREAKING NEWS: LA Kings Claim Samuel Fagemo off Waivers from Nashville

Word is, forward Samuel Fagemo is not expected to play on Sunday. If that holds, he’ll rejoin the Reign for practice this week and be ready to go in their next game, which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17 vs. Calgary.

Fagemo wouldn’t be the only addition to Sturm’s lineup that night either. If you missed this note a few days ago, here’s the latest on forward Andre Lee:

Kings prospect Andre Lee was having a fantastic training camp, only to suffer a knee injury that sidelined him for about a month. We’re happy to report that he skated with the Ontario Reign in a red jersey on Wednesday and there were reportedly no issues. From what we understand, the plan is to have him be a full participant in practice on Saturday (i.e. without the red jersey). If all goes well, he’s on track to make his season debut next Friday vs. the Calgary Wranglers.
