Don’t look now, but the Ontario Reign have strung together three straight shutouts. According to hockey superstitions, don’t talk about it though.
Goaltender David Rittich picked up the win on Friday in a 2-0 victory over San Jose.
That was Rittich’s second straight game of holding the opponent scoreless. Look for rookie netminder Erik Portillo back between the pipes tonight. He too is coming off a game in which he… well, didn’t give up a goal.
Coach Marco Sturm had to shuffle his defensive pairings last night due to Jacob Moverare being up with the Kings and Toby Bjornfot placed on IR. With an afternoon puck drop, the team did not hold a morning skate today. Thus, we’ll have to see if he elects to keep the blueline as is or continues to tinker.
If you missed it, Ontario GM Rich Seeley was on Kings Of The Podcast a few days ago and talked about the team’s secret weapon, LA’s rookie players making an impact with the Reign, how they plan to split the goaltending rotation, and much more.
