Projected Lineups: LA Kings vs. Vegas Golden Knights; Preseason Ends Today

October 7, 2023 By Scott Coffman

Call it the last hoorah.

This is it.

How ready is everybody for the regular season to start? They scheduled the final preseason game as an afternoon tilt. No reason to wait for a Saturday night special.

There’s really only one thing left for GM Rob Blake and coach Todd McLellan to figure out this weekend. Which player is going on waivers — Toby Björnfot, Andreas Englund, or Jaret Anderson-Dolan?

We covered the scenarios in depth here:

Kings Send Three Players to AHL Ontario, Final Roster Decision Looming

As for the game itself, Mark Stone will be disappointed to hear that Hayden Hodgson won’t be suiting up for the Kings in this one.

Per his usual routine for a 1pm game, McLellan won’t put the team through a morning skate. Thus, the outlook below is subject to change.

Kings Projected Lineup vs. Golden Knights

Byfield – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Danault – Arvidsson
Fiala – Dubois – Grundstrom
JAD – Lizotte – Lewis

Anderson – Doughty
Gavrikov – Roy
Björnfot – Spence

Talbot
Copley

Likely scratches: Englund, Rittich

Suspended: Kaliyev

Key Game Info

Puck drop is set for 1:00 pm PST and will be televised by Bally Sports.

For those live in attendance, the LA Kings Booster Club will offer their popular ‘Puck for a Buck’ contest — featuring Quinton Byfield for this game. Just $1 could win you an autographed puck from an NHL star. Visit their table near aisle M8 on the main concourse for more information.

Across the Ice

With only one roster cut of their own still to make, Vegas will look similar to this for today’s game vs. LA:

Here’s the projected lineup for tonight

Marchessault-Eichel-Barbashev
Cotter-Stephenson-Stone
Amadio-Howden-Dorofeyev
Carrier-Roy-Kolesar

Hague-Pietrangelo
McNabb-Theodore
Hutton-Pachal

On This Day in Kings History

On October 7, 1995, Vitali Yachmenev became the first rookie in @LAKings’ history to score two goals in his NHL debut. Wayne Gretzky recorded two assists, and Byron Dafoe made 22 saves in a 4-2 win in the home opener against the Colorado Avalanche.#LAKings #GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/p2VMRWTDqY
