SCOUTING REPORTS
From Elite Prospects:
Dvořák spent part of the season injured, but when he did play, he showed more interest in the offensive side of the game than the defensive side; he was more inclined to use his soft skills more than his hard ones. Especially against his age group at the international level, he constantly activated into the play in the offensive zone.
From McKeen’s:
One of the larger specimens in this year’s draft, Dvorak has spent this season more or less solidifying himself as one of the perhaps top five defensive defensemen overall. One of the most impressive aspects this season is that he generally makes quite a coordinated impression in his movement despite being so tall at such a young age. In fact, he conducted his entire season as a 17-year-old, spending his shortened regular season entirely with powerhouse Liberec in Czechia’s top men’s league. Featuring a wide wingspan and expectedly active with his stick in poke-checking capacities, Dvorak has been a devastating physical force against his peers internationally, but expectedly a cage-wearing target playing pro back home. At all steps of the way, he has looked involved, especially in making decisions to pinch or cut off space in the neutral zone, applying himself physically with regularity. This has meant a whole lot of battling against players who, in some cases, were more than twice his age back home.
From Future Considerations:
Dvorak is a towering defenseman whose physical stature allows him to have an impact all over the ice. Defensively, he utilizes his size, pacing ability, and active stick to maintain control against forwards. With adequate skating, he makes it difficult for opposing players to gain clean zone entries. Dvorak takes a reactive approach to defending, allowing the play to come to him before disrupting with his active stick or physical presence. He is rarely beaten, thanks to his powerful crossovers and ability to match pace with his opponents. Offensively, he is not hesitant to pinch or slide into the offensive zone, showcasing his abilities on the power play.
HIGHLIGHTS
Here's an interesting tidbit on Kings draftee Jakub Dvorak…
LA's new CZE scout Petr Jelinek was his teammate last season. And he's now also a Development Coach for Dvorak's team in Europe. So, Kings will have good eyes on him all next season.
