When the Eagles visit the Reign on Sunday afternoon, they will do so for the last time this season. Ontario has defeated Colorado in four of the first seven meetings and will look to collect two more important points in the standings, as their magic number currently sits at three.
Over the course of their season series, the Reign have seen big contributions from several of their star players. TJ Tynan has thirteen points in seven games, while Lias Anderson has potted six goals and Jordan Spence has seven assists. The penalty kill continues to be the story in Ontario, now sitting in second place in the AHL rankings. Their 84.3% kill percentage puts them right behind Chicago for first in the league.
Expected to play in his second pro game this afternoon is Kings prospect Alex Laferriere. He had two shots on goal in his pro debut on Friday night. Unfortunately, he also found some tough luck when a puck bounced off his skate and into his own net. He started the last game on the fourth line and was moved up to the first line for period three. Although unconfirmed, we’re penciling him back up top for this afternoon’s game.
Additionally, we’re expecting Aidan Dudas to see a rare appearance as the second line center based on line configurations at practice yesterday. The third-year pro has 29 points in 69 games and has been very effective in the second-half this year. Unfortunately, we’re hearing Kings prospect Alex Turcotte will sit this game out. He remains sidelined, listed as day-to-day.
Cal Petersen is expected to start in goal. We have an all-new interview with him posted here:
