Saturday night proved to be a book with many chapters – and all of them were positive for the LA Kings.
Things began with a nearly 90-minute ceremony to honor longtime captain and two-time Stanley Cup champion Dustin Brown, as his No. 23 was officially retired, along with a statue unveiling outside the arena.
On the ice, during the actual game between LA and Pittsburgh, forward Adrian Kempe became the first Kings player to ever score four consecutive goals.
Adrian Kempe of the @LAKings is the second player in NHL history to outscore everyone else in the game 4-0 over the final 2 periods.
The other was Jean Béliveau on November 5, 1955.

Meanwhile, Pheonix Copley debuted a new Jonathan Bernier inspired mask and earned a shutout.
Three stats from the game:
– Some of the tie-ins to what Kempe accomplished are rather ironic considering the opponent and evening. The last Kings skater to record a natural hat trick was Jeff Carter and the last Kings player to record four goals in a game was Dustin Brown.
– Perhaps lost in all the hoopla, Jaret Anderson-Dolan opened the scoring, recording his seventh goal of the season. He has a modest three game point streak and didn’t seem to skip a beat sliding down to the fourth line with Trevor Moore returning to the lineup.
– Playing in his 500th NHL game, Viktor Arvidsson became the seventh skater from the 2014 NHL Draft class to reach that milestone.
