Jonathan Quick started in goal on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden, only to be pulled after letting in three goals on seven shots. After New York forward Vincent Trocheck scored his second goal of the game, Pheonix Copley took over in net, but the damage was done. LA was never really able to recover and eventually lost 5-2.
The Kings defense had limited the Rangers to just three shots on goal in the first period, outshooting the home team 8-3. Despite not having anything to show for it on the scoreboard, it was still a game within reach at that point. After being down 3-0 late in the second period, it was Viktor Arvidsson who scored on the power play to give LA some life.
An early goal by Matt Roy less than two minutes into the third period actually made it a 3-2 game. However, Artemi Panarin only needed 44 seconds to put the Rangers back on top for good.
Three Stats of The Game:
— It was New York’s first win after dropping four consecutive games, including a game in Washington the day prior.
— Roy’s goal was his ninth of the season, most among all Kings defensemen.
–Arthur Kaliyev picked up an assist, giving him points in both games in New York on the road trip. That now gives him 50 points in his young career (26G, 24A).

On K'Andre Miller getting tossed for spitting, Gallant said, "The kid feels bad about it. He said it was an accident."
Miller connected with Doughty after the game to apologize and explain that it wasn't on purpose. "Good conversation," I'm told. #NYR
