Four days off between games — with two extended practices sandwiched in-between — wasn’t a winning recipe for LA. They dropped their second straight game on Thursday night, this time at the hands of the visiting Dallas Stars.
Forward Tyler Seguin scored a pair of goals in the 4-0 effort, and added an assist for good measure. Stars goalie Scott Wedgewood made 34 saves and earned his first shutout of the year.
For the first time in quite a while, LA’s power play came up empty, going 0-for-4. Conversely, the penalty kill shutdown all four of Dallas’ opportunities with the man-advantage.
It was the Stars first victory on Kings home ice since January 2020.
Three stats from the game:
– Combined with last Saturday’s loss to New Jersey, that’s two straight Ls for LA. This season, they only have one losing streak longer than two games. It was a three-game stretch in mid-November… And one of those three losses included an OT loss to Seattle so they still earned a point.
– Goaltender Pheonix Copley is 12-3 overall since his call-up from AHL Ontario. However, he has dropped two of his last five games with the Kings, and gave up four goals in both contests.
– LA has now been shutout three times this season. The two prior were in December, coming against Toronto and Buffalo.
