Another game, another win for the Kings. More importantly, Monday night brought two more points in regulation against a Pacific Division team that was looking to draw closer to LA’s second spot in the standings. Instead, with a 6-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers, coach Todd McLellan watched the Kings improve to a blistering 9-2-1 over their last 12 games.
Three stats from the game:
— LA’s penalty kill, which has been described as a ‘work-in-progress’ several times over the past month or so, went a perfect six-for-six against one of the league’s most explosive power plays.
— More special teams: Adrian Kempe had a pair of power-play goals, as did Kevin Fiala. It marked the first time since April 5, 2012 the Kings recorded four power play goals in the same game. It was also the first time in franchise history that two players recorded multiple power play goals in the same game.
— Fiala now has 46 points on the season; which eclipses Ziggy Palffy putting up 43 points in his first 44 games after joining the Kings.
