If there were any lingering concerns following the Kings disappointing loss over the weekend, 2023 started off with a bang on Tuesday night, as LA took down the visiting Dallas Stars 3-2.
Scoring an even one goal per period, the home team’s offensive output began with a marker by Rasmus Kupari — an absolute blister of a shot, set up off a feed from Kevin Fiala.
Anze Kopitar found the back of the net later in the game, deflecting a shot by Drew Doughty. Then, in the final frame, Adrian Kempe recorded the game-winning goal with LA on the power play.
Three stats from the game:
— Goaltender Pheonix Copley is now 9-1 since being recalled from the AHL last month.
— Kopitar now has 598 career points at home, trailing only Luc Robitaille (669) and Marcel Dionne (700) for the most in franchise history.
— With a two-point night, Fiala has points in nine straight games vs. Dallas; tying Morgan Reilly for the second longest active streak against the Stars.
