The real headlines for Saturday’s game in Vegas should center around the Kings-Golden Knights matchup being a rare double Reverse Retro game. Both teams will suit up in their special jerseys; and for LA, this will be the final time they’ll wear their purple and gold sweaters this season.
Lineup wise, goaltender Pheonix Copley is expected to get the start in net. He was also the starter in LA’s 4-2 win over Vegas coming out of the Christmas break. On the season, the Kings are 1-1 vs. the Golden Knights, including their 4-3 opening night loss.
While we haven’t had any indication there will be any lineup changes, there is at least one interesting aspect to note. Management typically arms coach Todd McLellan with a full complement of backup players for road trips. However, he appears to only have one extra forward and defenseman for this quick one-game roadie to Sin City. When Trevor Moore was placed on Injured Reserve yesterday, that at least created another open roster spot, should they feel the need to add another body. As of this writing, nobody additional has been recalled.
LA Kings Projected Lineup vs. Vegas Golden Knights
Byfield – Kopitar – Kempe
Iafallo – Danault – Arvidsson
Fiala – Lizotte – Vilardi
Lemieux – Kupari – JAD
Anderson – Doughty
Durzi – Roy
Edler – Walker
Scratches: Grundstrom, Moverare
Injured Reserve: Moore, Kaliyev (retro to Dec. 20, expected out several weeks)
Additional Game Notes

In their last game played, Vegas defeated Pittsburgh 5-2 on Thursday.
Here’s what the Golden Knights have been showing recently:

Jonathan Marchessault is expected to draw back in (out since December 21), likely replacing Nicolas Roy on the second line. This move would probably send Roy to the fourth line in place of Jake Leschyshyn.
Cassidy says a chance Alec Martinez goes tonight. He took part in the optional morning skate after practicing yesterday.
