One of the AHL’s greatest rivalries gets going again this weekend with a home-and-home series between the Reign and Gulls. Game 1 of the back-to-back set opens Friday night in San Diego, with an immediate rematch set for Saturday in Ontario.
The two Pacific Division clubs have squared off three times previously this season, with the Reign holding a 2-1 edge. In their initial matchup, Pheonix Copley earned second star honors after stopping 44-of-45 shots faced. After a heavy dose of Cal Petersen recently, coach Marco Sturm is expected to go with Matt Villalta between the pipes in San Diego. Naturally, Petersen would then be expected to start in Ontario on Saturday.
Even though he skated in practice earlier this week, Kings prospect Alex Turcotte has not been cleared to return just yet.
Expect an LA Kings roster move soon…
Jordan Spence should be assigned to AHL Ontario

Look for Jordan Spence to slide back in on defense after being recalled to the Kings earlier this week.
While unconfirmed, Grans may be a little banged up, as he is expected to miss his second straight start.
