For the second — and final — time this season, the Ontario Reign are in Colorado for a pair of back-to-back games. In November, they split a set with the Eagles, winning 2-0 before suffering a 7-3 defeat. When the two teams met up in SoCal last month, it was goaltender Cal Petersen’s first start for the club in several years. He was certainly up for the challenge; earning No. 1 star honors on the evening after stopping 27 of 28 shots faced.
Petersen is expected back in net when coach Marco Sturm sends his guys onto the ice later tonight. What remains unclear is the status of forward Alex Turcotte. He’s missed time recently with a day-to-day injury, yet has been skating with the team — including as a full participant in Monday’s practice.
Should he not be ready for tonight, look for Nikita Pavlychev to most likely slide in as the 3C. There is also a chance Andre Lee draws back in at LW4.
Look for one change on defense, as Kings prospect Helge Grans is expected to return to Ontario’s blueline.
