The Ontario Reign defeated the Bakersfield Condors on teddy bear toss night, as Cal Petersen led them to a defensive driven, 2-0 victory.
Petersen was the backstop Saturday evening, denying all 19 Condor shots. The 28-year-old still had some highlight reel saves throughout the game — including two breakaway opportunities. After the shutout over Bakersfield, the Illinois native is now 4-1 with a 1.61 goals-against average, paired with a .947 save percentage in five games with the Reign.
Ontario and Bakersfield were deadlocked after the first and second periods, in what was a defensive battle. Although there was no score, the Reign had the better offensive looks through the first two periods.
Just over two minutes into the third period, teddy bears poured onto the ice as Andre Lee scored his second of the season to open the scoring. In the final minute of the period, Samuel Fagemo netted an empty net goal to secure the win.
Late in the third period, while the Reign were on the man-advantage, Quinton Byfield took a dirty hit while the Reign were on the powerplay, and he did not return to the game. However it was in the final two minutes of the game.
Special teams did not play too much of a role in Saturday’s game, as Ontario failed to score on six advantages, while Bakersfield could not find the back of the net either on three chances.

We get a beg W alll is in place. Alex Turcotte or another Kings prospect/defenseman named “Sean Walker” with the BUM Brendan Lemeiex we be done for a 3rd rounder and what in the world the Kings are competitive again in net and they have no defense except the a place to stand they have Elder, Moverare, Bjornfot, and Brandt Clarke. Bitcoin actual team their minds it had you all stay a at home Defenceman that’s left handed then boom! But hockey is silly and has its ways. I think the Kings need to prepare the Reign for someone who will fit. And only get stronger overtime with great goalie. Cal or Phoenix at the moment in December 18th I think we know the team and management will succeed or fail miserably. I’m optimistic and I think we have a good chance.Just no more Clarke stories and no more Frk stories go Kings and long live the Bernstein dogs. Gonna start a go fund me just to see them be donkeys
