Following a 6-5 overtime loss in Columbus on Sunday, Kings coach Todd McLellan proclaimed, “Great that we come back, great that we score goals, great that we stick with it. But the carelessness is killing us.”
Even so, all is not lost. McLellan’s club was playing the second game of a back-to-back set and took three of four points on the line this weekend. There were plenty of mental errors in Columbus, yet — as LA’s bench boss noted — the Kings didn’t stop playing and pack it in early, despite going down 2-0 in the first period. They tied it before the midpoint of the game and later trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes. Even so, they again came back to tie it.
Captain Anze Kopitar had his second multiple goal game this month. He also has six goals in his last seven games. This comes on the heels of a tough stretch in November, where he had just a single goal in 11 games. He only had five goals in the first 25, so he’s heating up at a time when the team needs him.
By scoring five goals total, LA remains tied for second in team goals this season (105 GF), trailing only Buffalo (108 GF) — who the Kings will face next.

The official NHL word on upholding the #CBJ winner: “The Situation Room initiated a video review to examine the play after the puck made contact with Johnny Gaudreau’s glove. It was determined that Los Angeles’ Kevin Fiala directed the puck into his own net.”

Durzi has had the best seat in the house on so many of the opponents goals this year. Like his offensive skills, but the dude cannot play defense!
He has Jake Gardiner written all over him.
I think the Kings equipment manager is using the wrong kind of tape. It is too slippery and the puck is being fumbled constantly with guys playing like their blades were spread with butter. It also is causing guys to throw around ridiculous cross ice passes that are easily intercepted by the other team. Honestly though, the Kings look better when Copley is in net. All Copley does is go post to post and make few movements. It may have a calming effect. Quick sometimes makes these super athletic moves on routine saves and Peterson just doesn’t have to to even make a routine save so I think the way to go is a calm goalie in net.
