Cal Petersen has arrived in Ontario and is ready to begin the next chapter of his journey. He last played for the Reign in January 2020. Yet, it’s been even longer since he squared off with the Colorado Eagles — that came in November 2019, when he shut them out 4-0 and earned first star of the game honors.
Thoughts on Kings Placing Goaltender Cal Petersen on Waivers
Through a myriad of roster transactions this week, the Kings and Reign have exchanged several players. For now, Sammy Fagemo and Toby Bjornfot will remain in the NHL roster. Meanwhile, Tyler Madden has been returned to Ontario and is available to play tonight.
Coach Marco Sturm had Rasmus Kupari skating at 1C in practice on Thursday, a spot recently held by Quinton Byfield. We’re expecting the latter to be back alongside Madden and Alex Turcotte vs. the Eagles. Where Kupari will fit in on Friday night probably won’t be known until warmups. We’re assuming Sturm will want to keep Nate Thompson in the lineup as a veteran presence. If so, it may need to be at wing.
