What’s the easiest way to erase a disappointing road trip? In the words of Motley Crue… Home Sweet Home.
The Kings last played at Crypto Arena on November 10 and they skated to their fourth straight home victory – with the last three coming down to a single goal margin. So, they were close. When the Rangers and Kings played a pair of games last season, it was the home team coming out on top in each game.
As of last word, Kings defenseman Sean Durzi remained sidelined with what is being described as a day-to-day injury. Unless something changes between now and warmups later this evening, that should mean Jacob Moverare starts on defense for the second straight game. He played nearly 14 minutes vs. Seattle on Saturday, while leading all LA skaters with five shots on goal.
Up front, it appears coach Todd McLellan will look to reunite Kevin Fiala with the top-line tandem of Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. Beyond tracking to see if that trio has a better second act than their first, it will be worth monitoring how this impacts Gabe Vilardi, as well. He’s now gone six games without a goal — and didn’t even record a SOG in Seattle — after being highly effective through the first 15 games of the season.
