Despite sitting in first place atop the Pacific Division with a stellar 6-1 record, Ontario’s upcoming series vs. the Colorado Eagles very much feels like a ‘show me’ moment.
Sure, no other AHL team has a better winning percentage than the Reign at .857, yet the test in front of them seems very real.
Last May, it was Colorado who knocked Ontario out of the Calder Cup Playoffs — just as they had done the year before.
First-year coach Marco Sturm was not around for either situation. That’s not a problem, though. His assistant coach and several key players likely remember each disappointing loss to Colorado as if they just took place yesterday.
Regarding tonight. Kings prospect Sammy Fagemo is not expected to play in the front of this two-game set vs. Colorado. After leaving Tuesday’s game early, he did not practice with the team this week. Thus, the alignments at right wing below are a guesstimate.
Defensively speaking, we will assume Helge Grans returns to action after sitting out the last game.
