And just like that, the Kings have erased a pair of home losses to open the season by rattling off two road wins. Alex Iafallo and Gabe Vilardi remained red hot, as well. Below are key highlights from LA’s overtime victory in Detroit on Monday Night:
— LA is now 9-1 over the last 10 games vs. Detroit.
— Adrian Kempe scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Only Luc Robitaille (6 in 1999-00; 5 in 2000-01) and Anze Kopitar (6 in 2021-22) have scored more goals through the Kings’ first four games of a season in the last 30 years.
— By extending his season-opening point streak to four games, Iafallo also tallied his 100th career assist. Since the 2017-18 season, only Kopitar (225), Drew Doughty (165) and Dustin Brown (113) have recorded more assists than Iafallo.
— Phillip Danault scored his first two goals of the season, including the game-winner in overtime. It marked his second career overtime goal and first with LA.
— Vilardi established a new single-game career-high with five shots on goal. He also recorded his second goal in as many games and third on the year.
